Elephants are, by their nature, rather social creatures. They love and grieve, lament and worry; they seem to possess quite an extensive emotional range. Honestly, they’d make pretty good pets if they weren’t so massive (and didn’t require so much space to be happy).
In the Elephant Nature Park of Chang Mai province, northern Thailand a simple tractor driver has attracted the love of a friend many times his size. Kham La is just under 6 years old and is still considered by elephant standards to be pretty immature. Maybe that’s why she freaks out when she sees her favorite person.
I don’t know about you but I’d probably panic if I saw a herd of elephants come charging towards me. It’s like something out of Jurassic Park. Still, you can’t say they aren’t excited to see him. Well, I kind of get the feeling that it’s mostly Kham La who’s excited but the older members of the herd won’t let her out of their sight.
