I’m willing to bet that few people have ever heard of the sleepy little Ohio town of Uhrichsville. It’s small, unassuming, and tragically midwestern. Nobody would ever suspect that it’s the birthplace of internet millionaires, NFL players, and now the UFC Bantamweight Champion of the world. As an amateur boxer at Newberry College, Cody Garbrandt earned an impressive record of 11-1. As a UFC fighter he remains undefeated at 11-0 (9 of which by knockout.) On Decemeber 30th in Las Vegas Nevada, by a 5th round unanimous decision, Garbrandt made history and took the bantamweight belt for his own. For a few moments at least until he handed it off to young cancer survivor Maddux Maple.
I guess we’re going to have to start calling him Cody “All Heart” Garbrandt.
No one can deny that within Cody’s muscular chest beats the heart of a champion.
