Earlier this year I wrote about the best job in the world, being a Panda Nanny. Well it turns out they’re going to be in even more demand soon. China’s Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding revealed that this year’s breeding season has been a tremendous success. 23 New baby pandas have entered the world (nearly twice what they’ve historically come to expect) and they’re every bit as adorable as you’d imagine.
The Chengdu Research Base is an organization dedicated to preserving and restoring endangered species. When the program started in 1953 they only had 50 giant pandas. It’s a mark of their success and how far they’ve come that now they’re able to shepherd nearly half that many into the world every year. But enough of the history lesson, let’s see the cute.
Aww..poor little guy.
Despite this year’s success, Panda’s still have a long way to go before their populations are stable. Nevertheless, this is a great step in the right direction.
