The last few years have seen a resurgence in superhero popularity thanks to the nearly endless stream of television shows and movies. These characters have always been in the background of American culture but have found new life on the silver screen. Whether you’re a long time comic book reader or a relative newcomer to these iconic franchises you likely understand that they’re just harmless stories. Certainly superheroes don’t really exist right?
Well you may want to rethink that. Jessie Graff is a professional stunt actress on the hit TV show Supergirl. She’s an accomplished athlete and fighter with a black belt in Tae Kwon Do, a black sash in Kung Fu, and advanced training in 5 other martial arts styles. She also still holds a pole-vault record at Georgia Tech and University of Nebraska. In the 2016 Los Angeles Ninja Warrior Qualifiers she became the first woman ever to run up the 14 1/2 foot warped wall. It’s really hard to express the magnitude of that accomplishment so why not see it for yourself?
As you can see the Supergirl stand-in apparently favors the Amazonian warrior poet Wonder Woman as her outfit reflects. Maybe she’s able to channel some of her power?
Of course the qualifiers are just the first step in becoming the Ninja Warrior champion. Jessie has a long way to go if she wants to be the best. Here’s a little look at what that takes.
I know I won’t be betting against her.
